I had just

finished bathing, standing before

the steamed-up mirror

brushing my hair

when it hit me:

the fetus inside the belly

of one of the sisters

whose life was

cut short by the

Nissan Pathfinder

I was driving

would be a child almost 10 years old now

(barring other tragedy)

I gripped the sink, brush

fell to the floor

my head splits and divides

again

my mind detaches from my body

again

how is it possibly possible that

two sisters are gone,

one child never was

and I am still here?
